Snana Yatra Festival Sunday, 6.20.2010, 12:00 p.m.
In preparation of the Ratha Yatra we have lots of activities for which your support and help is needed.
It starts with Snana Yatra - Bathing of Lords Jagannata Baladeva and Lady Subhadra on June 20th at 12:00p.m.
Please come early with your family and friends. We will make 30 dried fruit and fresh fruit garlands. In the past children have really enjoyed making theses garlands. Come anytime between 9 and 11 a.m. to make garlands on the 20th.
We will also be making lots of fresh fruit juices about 16 gallons worth starting 9 a.m. Lord Jagannatha will be bathed in milk, honey, yogurt, ghee and fruit juices. You can sponsor the bathing ceremony, garlands, fruits and other items. Following the bathing, their Lordships get terribly sick and go into hiding to recover. You can be their pharmacist by sponsoring their medicines - a tea mixture of various herbs and spices. |
Mandir Marjanam-Cleaning of the Temple Sunday, 6.20.2010, Saturday, 6.26.2010, Sunday 6.27.2010
Devotees clean the temple so that when Lord Jagannatha comes out of his hiding, he sees a sparkling Temple with happy devotee faces! Please stay after the Feast on Sundays to help clean the temple.
Anurag Prabhu is coordinating a special cleanup of Smt. Radharani's Kitchen. Contact him if you would like to volunteer your time. |
Ratha Yatra Festival Saturday, 7.3.2010
The refurbishing of Ratha Yatra cart will be lead by Bhakta Steven and Bhaktin Jennifer again this year. You can help by volunteering your time and money. We need $500 in donations for the refurbishment of the Ratha. The donor will have the privilege of riding on the Ratha with their Lordships in the parade.
Making of Prasadam packets for distribution at the parade is needed the week of June 27th. Last year we distributed over 3000 packets of prasadam at the parade. According to the Gita, distribution of prasadam is the highest charity.
Please sponsor the ingredients and your time in making the packets.
Dance with the Ratha! Every year, Matajis and children do excellent dances in front of the Ratha. Please wear your best traditional clothes and dance your way through the parade.
There are plenty of other things that we need help with.
Please contact Anantarupa Prabhu if you would like to volunteer or sponsor something for this ecstatic festival. |
Special Guest: His Holiness Gopal Krsna Maharaja!
Gopal Krishna Maharaja visits Boise, July 7, 2010 through July 9, 2010. Save these dates on your calendars. More details forthcoming in a separate newsletter. |
Bhagavad Gita Programs Recap Motel Gita Program: The efforts of SuRadhika (Sangeetha) Mataji are fructifying. We have placed 150 Bhagvad Gitas in motel rooms in Boise and expect to place another 100 or so this month. We can always use your sponsorships of Gitas for this noble program. Please call the temple with your sponsorship. Shastra Daan is the greatest charity.

Bhagavad Gita Club members gave an excellent audio vuisual presentation on Who is God? Part of the presentation can be seen on the video produced by Tim Nash on the following link. If you are interested in joining the club please contact Anantarupa Prabhu. The next class is starting soon, so don't miss this opportunity to deepen your understanding and relationship with Krsna and his devotees.

Nrsimha Caturdashi Recap
On May 26th we celebrated the Appearance Day of Lord Nrsimha with great joy and fervor. Every year Hiranyakashipu strikes the Boise devotees and everything is taken care of by Lord Nrsimha when he appears. This time Hiranyakashipu came in the form of a stomach virus but Lord Nrsimha took care of it. Miraculously all the children got well in time to perform a very nice play under Srinivas Prabhu's direction.
Thanks to Jayant & Prathana Kashikar family for a very nice feast with first time ever sweet item called "Chirote".
The Abhisheks and poojas were fully sponsored by the the following patrons: Shashi & Kavita Hegde; Gyathri & Harsha Holl; Krishna Kishore Balam; Srinivas Palakala, Simhachalam & Srilakshmi Pilla, Anil Reddy Punnam, Prashant Vijayan; Satish & Manjula Dulam; Navneet and Sweta Kankani; Sony & Sunil Puri.
Thanks to all of them for their generous support and to everyone else who came on a weekday during exam week to celebrate! |
Sincerely, Boise Hare Krishna Temple and Vedic Cultural Center 1615 Martha St. Boise, ID 83706 208.344.4274 boisetemple@gmail.com
